Necessity is the mother of invention. I first dreamt up this website whilst sitting in a long queue at the level crossing in Egham. "If only I knew when the damn thing was going to be down before I set off from home", I thought. So, after a few months of tinkering, I made a level crossing predictor which I used for my own purposes for many months.
It didn't really cross my mind to share it more widely, until I had a chat with a taxi driver who was picking me up from airport. He certainly wasn't happy to hear that I had freed up data, but had not shared it more widely.
So, after more months of tinkering, here it is: a comprehensive, live information service for Egham. I've included the level crossing predictor, train movements, weather, news, tweets, road information and more. I hope you find it useful.
I've tried hard to publish the best quality data that I can, but do use it at your own peril. It's just a hobby project after all.
